Free service to you. This is a completely free service to our caregivers. We do not require that you pay for anything while working with us. You do not owe us a fee, you do not pay for your background check, nor do we take a cut of your pay! We are happily compensated by the families that employ Southern Home Staffers looking for qualified nannies like you!
You are in control. We want you to be happy with every step of the placement process. You will work with a placement specialist to build your portfolio which will be shared with potential employers. You will interview with families that fit your personality and childcare philosophy. We will never send your profile out to families without permission and in depth discussion of the position. This is a no-pressure atmosphere. Your happiness is important to us. We are a resource. We are resource for you in your job search. We are not able to guarantee we will find you a position, but once you have passed our vetting process, we are able to send you out to as many positions for which you are a good fit. Communication is key. We want to get you out on interviews as soon as they present themselves. Please respond to emails and phone calls efficiently! If your desires, flexibility, location, schedule, and needs should change beyond our initial interview, let us know. The more detailed and flexible you can be regarding your ideal position and working environment, the better we can be in locating your "dream job". We are here to help you!
Discretion is required. When being introduced to potential or confirmed employers. By nature, using an agency attracts a high-profile clientele, and therefore requires a deep understanding of professionalism and confidentiality.
Candidate screening process. Candidates are required to fill out an extensive application followed by a face-to-face interview with a Southern Home Staffers placement specialist. As part of the fully documented interview, we evaluate professionalism and character. If the candidate is approved by our agency, we will conduct a thorough background check. This will include reference checks, past employment verification, social security verification, civil court, criminal, driver's license, most wanted lists, professional licenses (if applicable), sex offenders, and terrorist lists. Candidates are required to provide our agency with 3 childcare references, recommendation letters (if available), drivers license and insurance, and an up-to-date CPR/First Aid certification.
Respect and Protections for Domestic Workers. We insist that nannies be provided a fair, living-wage in Austin, overtime, and legal "on-the-books" pay. We also require upfront, clear communication about job expectations and foreseen flexibility so that misunderstandings are avoided. We do not screen or bar applicants based on legally-protected classes, so long as the applicant is fit for a job's requirements and family's childcare philosophy.
